My Leave Navigator

MetLife's My Leave Navigator replaced a manual, phone-driven claims process with a guided, self-service experience — letting employees managing a leave for a new child, a family member's care, an illness, or a disability claim get a completed, accurate claim without calling in.

I led the platform's first fully online claim intake experience and, concurrently under a separate product owner, the post-claim dashboard employees use to track an approved leave once it's underway.

Tasks
  • Claim Intake Flow Design
  • Post-Claim Dashboard Design
  • Agile Process Advocacy
  • Dev Handoff & QA Support

Outcome and Key Metrics
  • Processed over 10,000 claims online since June 2024, driving est. $246,000 in operational savings.
  • Increased claim completion rates by 66% and reduced customer service calls by 30%.
Looking Back

Because the intake flow and the post-claim dashboard sat under separate product owners running concurrently, sequencing mattered. I pushed to have the dashboard work follow at least some of the disability intake flow work first — it gave me a clearer, grounded understanding of the claim process from the employee's side before designing the tool they'd use to track it. MetLife's UX group was some of the most sophisticated, creative people I've worked with — I loved being part of that team.
